Erie friends (and neighbors… because Erie is my hometown ❤️)

Your lawn is telling you something right now…
With irrigation restrictions + almost no precipitation, a lot of lawns just aren’t bouncing back this season. And honestly—they may not want to.

The Town of Erie is offering up to $2,000 to replace turf with water-wise landscaping. This is such a good opportunity to create something more meaningful in your yard.

Think:
– pollinator habitat
– less water, more resilience
– a garden that actually gives back

Details:
– $2/sq ft for planting beds
– $1/sq ft for low-water grass
– 200 sq ft minimum
– must apply BEFORE starting
Funding is limited + first come, first served.

If you’ve been thinking about making a change, this is a really good moment to start.

We’d love to help you design something beautiful 💚

A quick seasonal note: please keep your plants watered. The dry wind is adding stress to an already dry winter, and supplemental watering now will help ensure plants head into spring strong.

Our spring clean-ups will begin next week.

We’re excited to welcome back Sonya Seidler, who owns a beautiful organic farm in Longmont and brings a deep focus on soil health to our work.

And we’re thrilled to introduce a new team member, Spencer Burke, whose knowledge of native plants, soil health, and ecology will strengthen our mission to build resilient gardens across the Front Range.

We already have 11 garden designs out the door this season, and every one of them is a native garden. The plantings are designed so that two-thirds of the species support (2/3 for the Birds), and eight of these projects replace traditional lawns. It’s AWESOME to see more landscapes becoming habitat!!

Here’s to planting more flowers and fighting like hell to protect all species!

The historic Highland building is fortunate to have Nicole C and Nicole Z stewarding its gardens. With reverence for the vision set forth by Constance and Sina in 1978, they approach the Gardens as an enduring work that evolves with time and holds memory, offering continuity across generations. A little midwinter nudge: water your evergreens… and maybe write someone a letter. 💌🌿

This week’s blog is part garden care reminder (winter watering matters!) and part reflection on slowing down, planning intentionally, and designing landscapes that support people and ecosystems.

We hope you had a restful holiday season. As we head into 2026, we’re feeling deeply grateful to continue doing the work we love—designing gardens that support people and the ecosystems around them. Lately, I’ve been inspired to write letters by hand, thanks to The Correspondent by Virginia E

Garden Design That Supports Life

As proud members of: 2/3 for the Birds, PlantSelect, and Homegrown National Park® Official Group we design with both beauty and purpose in mind. Our gardens are as ecologically meaningful as they are visually refined, supporting pollinators, conserving water, and fostering connection to the land.

The gardens are tucked in for the season, and now the design work begins!

Quiet mornings, plan reviews, and time to think through every layer. . . what stays, what changes, what grows next.

A cappuccino (in one of our favorite gardens!) and a nearly finished Spring/Summer 2026 layout. This part of the process is nice and slow and that’s what makes it so rich.

Feeling lucky to do this work, and excited for what’s coming. Spring and Summer designs are now open!

This season, we’re savoring more than just food. . . we’re soaking in flickering candlelight, mossy textures, and nature brought indoors.

We sat down with Kit from + Tara of , two creatives who turn tables into poetry. Think: mushrooms, heirloom fruit, snips of rosemary. . . wild, warm, and wonderfully personal.

Little Bluestem showing off her full fall palette. Native to the front range, this grass brings texture, movement, and color all while supporting local wildlife.

Sustainable, stunning and drought tolerant - the trifecta!

Would you plant this in your space?
