The owner’s design spec's included a connection from the primary house to the garage for access from the home, an open concept with ample outdoor living space, a mother-in-law suite on the first floor with outdoor living areas on the main floor. Total outdoor living space is approx. 718 SF (500 on first floor and 218 on roof). The main massing of the house and massing of the ADU enclose both outdoor living spaces on the site to provide cozy spaces with privacy and views.

Can you say "Tiny Home".... ADU in the City?

Foundations have been completed for this new ADU and work is progressing to build what will be an efficient, functional and very livable Tiny Home. ArcWest Architects has worked in collaboration with Kindred Tiny Homes (KTH) to plan, design, coordinate structural engineering, then submit for Building Permit.

Basement Dig-out to Retro Renovation | Design by ArcWest

We started with a crawl space adjacent to a nicely finished basement, the client had this vision to dig out all the area in the front quarter of the house footprint, then set up this really awesome private lounge and theater. All of this is accessed through two secret bookshelves!!

Mt. Vernon | 100-Year-Old Mountain Cabin Addition

The ArcWest team is collaborating with our client, in coordination with civil and structural engineering team, to develop the design for a thoughtful addition and renovation of this century-old mountain home.

The proposed addition includes a new primary suite, a two-car garage, and an expansive southwest-facing deck that captures sweeping views of the Continental Divide. Interior renovations will modernize the kitchen and simplify the bedroom and bath layout to improve flow and create more functional, usable spaces. The design also replaces the original steep stair with a code-compliant stair, enhancing safety and circulation from the foyer and main entry.

Respectful of the natural setting and neighboring view corridors, the design takes the form of a low-profile ranch that opens on the downhill side, framing long views into the surrounding mountain forest.
