Paul Ramsey and Carolyn Shaver brought their love of travel to exotic lands, respect for local tribal art, and exquisite taste to a small storefront in the Cherry Creek North neighborhood. Over the years, Cherry Creek North has become the upscale shopping destination in Denver. At Shaver-Ramsey, our original showroom has expanded to 5000 square feet, and we have evolved into one of the premier rug retailers in the United States. Today, Paul Ramsey and partner Elizabeth Vehko continue to travel the world selecting the finest rugs available. Our knowledgeable and experienced staff is unrivaled when it comes to finding the right rug for the right setting. We offer in-home consultations, delivery, and cleaning and restoration services. A cornerstone of serving our clients is the belief that education is key to developing an appreciation of Oriental rugs and the cultures that produce them. The power of a custom cut! We transformed a beautiful rectangular rug into a stunning round rug, creating a perfect focal point for our client’s entryway. As a bonus, we used the leftover material to craft a matching small entry rug. Swipe to see the amazing before-and-after!

Today, we’re taking a closer look at the Yastik, a fascinating piece of Turkish textile history. While the word “yastik” primarily means cushion or pillow, these small, handwoven pieces were far more than simple decor. Historically, they were used by nomadic people as versatile storage bags or comfortable floor cushions.

This specific yastik from our collection, dating to around 1900, is a wonderful example, featuring a rich, carpet-style pile on one side and a flat-woven kilim on the other. Its beautiful design and dual function are a testament to the masterful artistry of Turkish weavers.

For this , we invite you to experience a Yomut Turkmen spindle bag from c. 1900. Its unique form and incredible craftsmanship tell a story of nomadic artistry. This heirloom-quality textile is a perfect example of why we’ve been dedicated to preserving and sharing these pieces for almost 50 years.

Happy ! We are so excited to share an exceptional piece from our collection today: an Avar Chanteh from the Dagestan region, woven around 1910. This beautiful textile is a testament to the masterful craftsmanship of the Avar people. It features their distinct geometric motifs and a rich palette of naturally dyed colors, all beautifully preserved over a century.
