A holiday tradition doesn’t get much easier than turning off the lights, but our annual “Spooky Dinner” is a big hit with our kids! Some years we make Halloween-themed foods, other years (like last night) it’s a Chinese takeout kind of dinner. It’s just as fun either way!

Moms know… once you start something, you have to keep up the tradition! That’s why I’m heading to the grocery store tonight to pick up Froot Loops and mini powered sugar donuts for St. Patrick’s Day breakfast. It’s super simple but the kids love it! ☘️🌈

What are your plans for Valentine’s weekend?

We’ll be enjoying a family movie night tonight with a candy charcuterie board. I created one for the first time two years ago, filled with strawberries and lots of red and pink treats, and the kids requested it become an annual tradition.

It’s about the little things… These little cubicle shelves in my kitchen bringing me a ridiculous amount of joy. ❤️ I love having this space to style for all each holiday and changing things up from one year to the next. This year’s Valentine shelves and last.

Snow Day ❄️ = Game Day ♟

Nothing makes my organizing-loving heart happier than hidden storage. We hid four-foot deep drawers at each end of our game table banquette bench to hold ALL of our board games. Giant rubber bands allow us to store games on their sides while keeping the lids securely in place and all the pieces safely inside.

These are the rubber bands I used (affiliate links):

Friday night is Family Game Night! What are your favorite family games?

The kids recently discovered the original Clue, but tonight we’re playing Harry Potter Clue, with moving secret passages and lots of other fun twists.

If 2021 had an episode title, it would be “The One With the Unfinished Projects.”

I started the year with the goal to transform each space in our basement - including a makeover for our family room/game room, a major update to our basement bathroom, and a complete remodel of our home office. In the end, I only finished 1.5 of those 3 spaces. And I’m proud of that! For maybe the first time, I let go of my self-imposed deadlines and didn’t stress about it.

We finished the family room/game room makeover early in the summer. Rather than immediately started on the next project, we decided to spend the summer months enjoying the new game room with the kids. When fall rolled around, we started on the bathroom project expecting it to be quick and easy, but life got in the way. We finally finished the renovation piece of the bathroom right before Thanksgiving, but I still need to create and hang all of the artwork. I could have added that to the already long list I have things I had to accomplish between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I gave myself permission not to.

I’ll get to it in January… or maybe February and I look forward to finally sharing the finished space with you when it’s done. But in the meantime, I’m just happy that the bathroom is no longer orange. 🧡🤣

Packing away pumpkins🎃 and bringing out the trees🎄. If there’s one thing I love more than holiday decor, it’s organized holiday decor!

Adding a wall of IKEA Billy bookcases in our living room last year not only gave us lots of display space, it also added tons of much needed closed storage.

Organizing Deets: iDesign Kitchen Binz from The Container Store hold all of my bottle brush trees and so much more! These are the same acrylic bins that I used to organize candles in another section of the bookshelves.
