McHugh Renovation’s Story
Home Remodel and Renovation. Insured. In the process of being licensed.
I received my Bachelor of Art degree in Industrial Design in 2008. I had a job lined up with a design firm here in Denver that ended up losing 56 of its 60 employees due to the economy downturn at the time. They didn't hire me for some reason (a little sarcasm, sorry), and I couldn't find work in the field I graduated in here in Denver and did not want to move. So, I turned back to what I had been doing, remodel, renovation, and carpentry. I eventually received my Master of Theology in 2015 right before I got married to my amazing wife in January of 2016. We welcomed our first child in February of 2020! I love doing remodel, renovation, and construction, and look forward to sharing many projects (when possible) with you in time to come.
I have currently passed my F12 National Standard Building Contractor (B) Exam, have over 4 years of notarized letters of certified experience in remodel, renovation, and home construction, and am now going through the process of getting licensed with a few cities here in Colorado including Denver and surrounding areas. Looking to be accomplished by the end of 2020 in at least Denver.
There are 4 levels of License, A through D. Here in Colorado, each city requires its own license for General Contractors. This is not the case with most other trades such as electrical or plumbing, they do have state license. The “A” Builders license is for any type of construction from Skyscrapers to sheds. the “B” Builders license is for specific commercial buildings up to 75 feet tall and residential homes. The “C” Builders license is primarily residential. The “D” Trade license is for surface remodel only, with no structure changes allowed.
