Not every community that wanted a fountain got one. And in a few cases, cities that were offered one turned down the offer. For example, Seattle decided that the fountains might not be safe as you can see from this story.

Sometimes when we find updates about NHA fountains, the news is always helpful, but in a mixed kind of way. We want to thank Christopher Pollok, Historian In Residence at the Recreation and Park Department in San Francisco, for sending along a major update with pictures about the fountain in San Francisco since our last update showing the fountain in 1940. The good news is that the fountain still exists and we have a location. The bad news is that only the large bowl remains from its 1910 structure.
