Eastside Eggs FINAL egg drop today 8/21/24. With pending changes with Des Moines laws and ordinances we have reduced our laying flock. The ladies at the front desk have my personal contact information if you’re wanting to be added to a list for possible available future egg surplus! We may drop off a few dozen here and there but after the stand is empty we will be picking it up and discontinuing regular drops. Last fall we canned up the green tomatoes at the end of the season to use for fried green tomatoes…well today I opened the FIRST jar…whoops, that’s homesteading and canning. But when I tell you they were EXACTLY the same as the day I canned them…they made the best Fried Green tomatoes for our BLTs! And can’t say no to a homemade remoulade sauce! 10/10 canning all the green sliced tomatoes for this upcoming off season! I need to eat this AT LEAST once a week!
