From the first conversation, we knew this kitchen needed to be more than just updated. This family loves to host, and the space needed to reflect that.

So we started over.

The custom island became the center of it all, built for gathering and cooking. Everything else was designed around it, with a layout that flows and adds storage throughout.

What was once a plain wall with an outlet is now a custom built-in designed to showcase years of curated treasures.

Before a single shelf went up, we relocated the electrical and rerouted the HVAC so the bookshelf could sit completely flush against the wall. From there, it was painted floor to crown in Olympic Range by Sherwin-Williams, with a custom white oak beadboard backing for added warmth and texture.

More than a built-in, it’s a display case for a life well-collected.

We’ve talked about this fireplace quite a few times on our stories, but here’s a little more behind the scenes from the Van Meter project!

The ask was simple… open up the space, but keep the fireplace. So we removed the two side walls, reworked the layout, and made everything flow around it while still keeping it the star of the room!

We are nearing the finish line on this one and are so excited to show you guys this beautiful home! 👏🏼

What started as a full demo is now a completely transformed space.

We updated the layout with smarter cabinet storage, new accessories, and a mirror that actually fits the scale of the room. Every detail was thought through so it not only looks better, but works better day to day.

We kept a few original elements like the window and bedroom-side casing, but everything else was rebuilt to fit the space better.
