Dr. Marie Clark Taylor was the first Black Woman to receive a PhD in botany. Most of her research focused on studying the influence of light on plant growth. Dr. Taylor became an assistant professor in the botany department at Howard University in 1945 and later the department chair. On Howard’s campus, she was heavily involved in the design and construction of a new biology building and botanical greenhouse lab.

When thinking of Eucalyptus, think of the potential to be so dynamic, yet so familiar. Despite the hundreds of different kinds of Eucalyptus, all were valuable contributors to the ecosystem, sharing common traits.

This plant is a great teacher of the concept “strength in numbers.” Though they may have taken on different hues or shapes, each variety still has so much in common with the others. Whatever prompted the evolution that created their differences was a means of survival, and now they’re all thriving…together. Let Eucalyptus be your reminder that we likely have more commonalities with those who appear unlike us than differences. Its medicine aids us in clearing out stagnant areas in our lives and bodies. While showering with Eucalyptus, meditate on the mental and energetic debris you’re washing away to make room for clarity and connection.

Protection.

Often when we think of this concept in a reactive way:

How can we defeat a present threat? How can we prevent this threat from gaining strength and returning?

But what if we thought of protection in a proactive sense:

How can we build immunity? How can we prepare for future troubles?

Think of pest vex as a vaccine for your plants.

- Mold inhibiting Cinnamon

- Anti-fungal Tea tree oil

- Clove makes soil very uncomfortable for insects

- Castile soap releases vital nutrients that strengthens your plants ability fight disease

- Diatomaceous earth dehydrates present insects.

These ingredients make a strong plant and a hard time for insects to take up space. As you work with this product, think of ways to build your own immunity. We’re entering the season that calls for some extra safe keeping.

Hey everyone, if you looked on Google or Doordash lately you would have seen the store has been temporarily closed down. Here’s why: Since the conception of LeafMe we knew we wanted our own space, a space that we could truly grow into. So, we have shifted focus and have started the groundwork on renovating a new location on Chene. However, until that process is entirely done, we want to keep down costs and expenditures - with inflation on the rise, construction cost, rental fees, etc. it honestly would just be a lot for our small business to handle at once.
We are truly sorry for the inconvenience this has caused our local clientele, but in the meantime we are still open for shipments and deliveries. Construction shouldn’t take long, but until then, you can still grab plants in person at Madcap Coffee. Love you all, and can’t wait for you to see what we have in-store 😘.

It goes without saying that making assumptions about people can go over badly. Even when we make assumptions about plants like the aloe vera. Just because it’s a succulent doesn’t mean it can handle bright direct light. Filtered and shaded light is necessary to prevent the leaves from burning.

Have you been listening to your prayer plant lately? Those leaves are not curling up and dying for no reason. Give it some purified/filtered water to help it flourish.
