DID YOU KNOW? That Donald White (born 1908), who in 1932 became the first African American to earn a degree from the University of Michigan’s School of Architecture and who, six years later, became the state of Michigan’s first licensed black architect. Among his buildings include the Paradise Bowl, a bowling alley in Paradise Valley that was developed by Joe Louis in 1942 and lost to a fire in 1950.
The church Mr. White designed originally for Aijalon Baptist Church is still standing at 4803 25th St Detroit, MI. He was also the co owner of one of the first black owned architecture firms in Michigan.

We at developARCHITECTURE are in the process of designing a new youth gymnastic studio in Southfield, MI. The studio will be fully equipped with equipment needed to train your children to get on the Olympic path.

The design of the exterior features silhouettes of famous/historical black gymnast in olympic history.

We are excited and proud to help bring this to the city of Southfield.
