The Black Remodelers Contractors Alliance

Black Contractors within the home Renovation and Remodeling space have for some reason gotten a bad rap due to a few . However this is a truth across all spectrums of black owned businesses and it’s a hard thing to shake when the assumption is simply due to your skin color. How do you shake such a negative image when you as a Black Contractor do not fit this assumption? Most of us do everything in our power to just be great and deliver a beautiful end product and a satisfied customer and its still like pulling teeth just to get a google review ! What gives. How do we set ourselves apart ,Those of us that operate real businesses , that are at the top of our game , that are licensed , qualified , certified and justified to be within the space we find ourselves in? This is the beginning of something great. I need the best of the best , I need those that truly value their business . What do I mean by value ? This involves carrying the proper insurances, acquiring or have acquired the proper certifications and licensing for the space in which you do business in, Legitimate llc’s , Inc’s and the like , Brick and Mortar locations . If this is you JOIN. If this is not you message me to counsel you on how to get there . I DON’T LIKE THE NARRATIVE GIVEN TO US AND THIS IS THE BEGINNING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT , ARE YOU IN?

It doesn’t take much to get a reputable contractor to admit such and state publicly that they are licensed and insured or just insured because either way prior to entering your home and or even stepping on to your property they must be insured. The reasoning for that is should they hurt themselves on your property they can in fact make a claim against your homeowners insurance if they are not insured.

Certain crimes committed will actually ruin an individuals chances of getting a builders license, plumbing license,etc. As I have preached ,posted and reposted we will be vigilant not victimized.
A few questions to ask your potential Contractor?
1.What is the contractors government name?
2.Where is he located?
3.How long has he been in business?
4.What certifications does he have?
5.Does he have a COI?(Certificate of Insurance)
6.Does he have an llc or a DBA?

I believe in second chances however I want the option after careful research and consideration to do business with you or not.
Another thing to remember is this , verifying and background checking the person your considering doing business with is one thing however should they bring a partner or two or three , you want their names too and that contractor MUST CARRY WORKERS COMP INSURANCE AS WELL. Because yes their could be a registered s*x offender in the midst that should not be within 20ft of your 12 yr old!!! For the group I look up the person , the company and the license information . If I can not find it I delete them. I ask that if I missed someone please do not hesitate to let me know because I am all about transparency. I know my team players! This is why when I give a referall these are men and women that I personally know and have a working relationship with.My circle is small for the very reasons I stated above. I may be locked and loaded but as a woman I am still vulnerable , our strength is not that of a man’s so why allow someone into our homes when our guard is down and we know not truly who we allowed across our threshold? Again let’s be vigilant not victims! I love you all !
