Opening up the kitchen and family room in this Bronxville home required some serious structural work behind the scenes.
Existing walls were removed to create one continuous space. The original wood beam was replaced with a steel beam, allowing the structure above to remain supported while opening the room below.
On the exterior, a small French door and window were removed to create a larger opening for new French doors connecting the family room to the patio.
A lot of structural heavy lifting, but the result will be a bright, open space where the kitchen, family room, and garden connect.
