Did you know that when you place your flower order…I think about you for days leading up to pickup?

Okay, def NOT in a weirdo, call the cops kind of way. In a way like I think about your reason for ordering, the theme of your party, the recipient of your flowers, and what you’ve liked in the past.

If I know that you always *love* pink flowers, I’ll hold off on cutting a few pretty pink dahlias to save them especially for your order. If I know a child will be holding a bouquet, I’m extra careful about which flowers I should add and spend the days leading up walking the garden and mentally filling my arms with the perfect choices. If I know you’re giving them to a sick loved one, I’ll be sensitive to adding anything too fragrant or fussy.

Moral of the story: When you buy from a real person, you get their whole mind and heart in your order. It’s the little things that matter, after all. 💕

Time to learn about a beneficial garden insect!

This is a ‘Soldier Beetle’ and a friend to gardeners. It hangs around eating soft bodied insects….think aphids, slugs, mealybugs, cucumber beetles, and snails! They will also feast on caterpillars (think cabbage loopers, corn earworms, sawfly larvae, flea beetles, and plant-feeding stink bugs.)

They are good guys whether in the larval stage or adult and you can attract them to your garden by planting native and having lots of flowering plants. They’re also important pollinators, so be happy if they show up!

I’m super happy because as you can see I have a little community of them protecting my astilbe - thank goodness!

PS - I spy my foot 😆
