Recent Work done on an old house right on the lake . You can see the old toilet and vanity on the left . The toilet’s water tank was up on the wall and had brass plumbing. Back in the day the flushing action was created by gravity of the water coming down the pipe .
On the right the toilet and vanity were replaced with modern style. Along with fresh paint and caulking .

Here is a before after of a client's hallway where we painted the walls and the previously stained trim.

Do you got stained trim that looks outdated? This is a common color of stain that was popular 20-30 years ago.
If you want to paint it, there are a few steps first.

Since the paint wont just stick to stain your going to have to sand the trim to create an abrasive surface. Use 150-220 grit sand paper and do best to buff all of the trim. Dont sand away the stain, just give it good buff.

Next you will have to prime the trim with a bonding primer.

After that you can paint the trim. You will need to coat it twice so it covers well.

Do you have a water damaged ceiling? and if so, how bad is it ?

Here are a couple ways to tell if your drywall needs to be replaced..

1. Does the ceiling bow or sag at all. This could be a sign of more severe water damage and the drywall will need to be cut out and be replaced.

2. Is drywall crumbly or mushy when you touch it? If so, the drywall has lost its integrity and needs to replaced

If your ceiling does not show these signs and the water damaged spot is relatively dry, then it could just require mud and paint and your good to go. As long as the initial leak has been fixed.
