Last Saturday was the first big, team job of the season for Red Head Green Thumb. Susan Hargett Ethridge hired us to take her flower beds and get them looking cleaned up, fresh and neat. We weeded, thinned out a lot of her perennials, divided and replanted some of her perennials to fill in empty spots and balance things out. Philip Partlo worked his magic with removing the rock border to uncover it and then resetting it and creating a new, natural edge for the side yard flower bed. The other boys worked hard at digging out so many weeds and unwanted vegetation and then mulched it all. I love having such an awesome team💪🌼🌸

River told me first thing this morning that it’s Earth Day, which makes it very fitting to be kicking off my sixth season of Red Head Green Thumb. I was so lucky to be getting my fingers and back warmed up by working in Carolyn Reese Johns and Bruce’s beautiful flower beds. This is the fifth season I’ve been helping them and I couldn’t be more grateful. They are wonderful people who have become friends.
So today, I got to enjoy being out in the beautiful weather and having an egg sandwich which Carolyn made for me while we caught up❤️

I started Red Head Green Thumb five years ago to help provide for my family and pursue one of my other passions…gardening🌺🌸🌼🌱I started taking care of my own flower beds about 15 years ago and developed a love of seeing everything grow, changing things around, adding and dividing plants, and yes, even weeding. I love being outside and making a yard go from being blah or a disaster, to something that you can look at, love, and be proud of it.
When I decided to start doing this for a living, I knew I wanted to learn more, so I took the certification through the MSU Extension and became a certified Master Gardener. There continues to be so much more to learn!

My sixth season is about to start for my team and I. What started off as just me and occasionally a couple family members, has become a regular team of 6-10 people and this year, I’ll be adding more to be able to keep up with the growing client list. It has been a huge blessing to do this with my husband, kids, siblings, and friends as my team🌱🌺🌸🌼

Raquel hired Red Head Green Thumb to help her flower beds look cleaned up and beautiful. I consulted with her about adding new plants and getting rid of some to free up space and add variety and color. My team and I weeded it out, tore out old fabric, removed and reset the stone edge after weeding in between, dug out a lot of daylily and other unwanted plants, planted new flowers, trimmed some shrubs and did some edging. We also dug a new corner bed and planted a lilac. It has a whole new, fresh look and will fill in nicely as the new plants grow🌺🌼🌱

Rick is a regular who hired my team and I to help maintain his flower beds starting last season. Because we did so much of the maintenance all season, this first visit was much less daunting with light weeding, shrub trimming and then I planted about 100 petunias. I’ll go back at least one more time for some weeding, possibly planting and then another time fore fall cut backs and trimming.

I am so far behind on posting all of the work we’ve done this season. Red Head Green Thumb works hard 4-5 days a week to help people get the flower beds they want and love.
This particular client is a regular and this time it was cutting back grasses, edging, weeding, a lot of mulching, moving some plants around and thinning some out.

It’s was a family affair to get the work done that Karly Webb hired Red Head Green Thumb to do🌺🌼🌻🌱
In the original bed, we weeded and cleaned it out and then also divided some hostas to set aside for the new beds. There were two new beds to create, plant all of the flowers I had suggested and then the ones from the old original bed. We moved some rocks and used them to give a new edge as far as we could. Top it off with some mulch and shrub trimming and voila! Beautiful landscaping in a day! It was a fun job to do together.

Red Head Green Thumb started helping Laura Suarez get and keep her flower beds looking beautiful and healthy last year. This time it was a spring clean up of weeds and last years growth removal, trimming some of her creeping myrtle and then laying some fresh mulch. It’s early in the season so everything is still filling in. Come June and July, the flowers will be boasting some gorgeous colors and foliage. As usual, so grateful for the help of my team, this time with Meribeth Thering.

I have only ever plant one columbine, but in the last three years we have an area of the prettiest, most whimsical garden of these sweet plants, in different colors. They pop up throughout the bed, outside the bed, in between rocks, and we love it🌱🌼🍀
