♻️🌱 On-Farm Compost Demonstration Recap 🚜

We were proud to partner with the Colorado Compost Council and Eco-Cycle to host an On-Farm Compost Demonstration right here in Colorado!

This hands-on event brought together farmers, land stewards, and compost enthusiasts to:
✅ Explore the benefits of compost in Colorado’s unique agricultural soils
👩‍🌾 Participate in hands-on demos using locally sourced feedstocks
🌍 Learn from internationally recognized composting experts

A big thank you to everyone who came out to dig into soil health with us! Together, we’re growing a more regenerative future—one compost pile at a time. 💚

🌿 Restoring Soil, Safely. 🐾👣

There’s nothing better than seeing our kiddos run freely on land we’ve helped restore—because we know it’s truly safe.

This spring we applied a blend of granular compost and compost extract to this property, using our chemical-free method to rebuild healthy soil from the ground up. 💚

Unlike many public spaces treated with harsh chemicals, our restoration work is 100% safe for kids and pets. As a parent, there’s peace of mind knowing that the soil we’re building supports life—not harms it.

This is one of our favorite parts of the job: creating spaces where families can thrive naturally. 🌱

🚜🌿 Farm Tour Highlights: Connecting Community to Local Agriculture 🌱🐝

We had an amazing time helping organize the Local Sustainable Agriculture Tour in partnership with Walking Mountains, Eagle County Conservation District, and Wiggle Worm Gardens!

This community event was all about exploring sustainable farming practices and encouraging agri-tourism in the Eagle River Valley. From compost tea to llamas, the tour showcased just how vibrant and diverse our local food system really is!

🌿 Studying Soil for Wildlife Health
In 2024, The Ground Up partnered with the Eagle County Conservation District to assess soil health and plant communities in Eagle Ranch Open Space—with one big goal: supporting healthy wildlife grazing. 🦌🌱

Using current field data and historical records, we analyzed the soil’s ability to support diverse, nutritious vegetation for migratory wildlife. These findings will guide restoration and conservation efforts for years to come.
