It is important to note that killing bears or establishing a bear hunting season will not resolve bear-human conflicts. As long as attractants are present, another bear will come in place of the bear that was killed. However, removing attractants and securing trash can reduce (over 95%) or eliminate any bear-human interactions.

Spring is a time to be extra BearWise. Now is the time to take action to discourage hungry bears from paying you a springtime visit. BearWise has tips for you to make it a BearWise spring.

- Secure garbage and recylces. Store trash and recyling in a sturdy building or bear-resistant container until the morning of pick up.

- Take down bird feeders. If youโ€™re still feeding birds, you could soon find something big, furry and hungry ripping down your feeder. So many calories, so easy to get at. When you take down your feeders, remember to lock up or bring inside any bird seed or other treats youโ€™ve been storing outside.

โ€“ Bring in all pet food. Leaving pet food outside where bears can see or smell it is an invitation that can be hard for a hungry bear to resist. Feed pets indoors if at all possible. If you must feed them outside, feed in single portions only, remove bowls and food after feeding and store pet food inside in a secure location.

- Help out your neighbors and community. Share BearWise resources with your community. Visit the BearWise store to download free information fact sheets (including the checklist: How BearWise Are You?) or order handy door hangers and magnets that make house calls for you.

Possible Tornados and high wind! For those on the East Coast, especially Virginia and North Carolina, please secure anything that could become a projectile. Also may want to put your trash cart in the garage/shed or against a wall and make sure the lid is secured!

๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ 5 star review from Daniel Hall: Tuff product

Completed easy installation this week. Put the trash out for the first time with new straps. Trash can lid destroyed when a pickup truck ran over it. Trash locker buckle was completely unharmed.

Craig from Dandridge, TN sent in this video of his local black bear trying to get into his trash. He is a pretty determined bear and even drags the cart up the hill, when it was full of trash!! Still no luck getting in. Hopefully the bear will find some natural food sources to get his pre-winters-nap calories. He mentioned that his neighborhood has tried other trash can straps, regular Home Depot ratchet straps, bungees, etc and this bear has foiled them all. Couldn't get past our Ultimate Black Bear Trash Locks! Makes us proud of all the testing we did before bringing them to market.

Craig, thanks for securing your trash! No Bears in Trash = No Trash In Bears
