End Grain Cutting Board
This 1 ¾” thick custom hand-crafted black walnut board measures 16 x 22.

The cutting board has a deep chocolate color highlighted with black streaks and some lighter colored sapwood. These boards are comprised of random pieces, with high contrast between lighter and darker woods that are strategically placed to ultimately achieve the grandest “wow” factor.

Some people prefer a more uniform look while others prefer this high contrast result. You are encouraged to let us know your preference.

In terms of durability, the random pattern end grain walnut cutting board has the perfect balance of gentleness on knife edges and scratch resistance while providing ultimate durability.

Today we're going to unveil the small powder room reno. It is stunning!

Use your imaginations for this part. Before it's makeover this nondescript but functional space had a conventional toilet centered on the back wall and a very small wall mounted corner sink with exposed plumbing on the opposite wall.

We completely gutted the room then moved the plumbing and electrics. Wainscott (or bead-board) adds vertical interest and texture. The walls were painted a rich navy.

A corner toilet is a wonderful way to add interest as well as legroom. We crafted a floating corner vanity with a white marble top and bowl. Cap rail, baseboard, and shoe mold details complete the room. Blue veined floor tile and white ceiling work with the other elements to provide an illusion of more space.

This small powder room has been transformed from utilitarian to a sanctuary. Well maybe that's an overstatement - but it's definitely a big improvement aesthetically. Don't you agree?

Hello Woodshoppers. Here are some before and after pics of a recently completed basement reno.

This was a typical basement - before. Ugly stained concrete block walls, concrete floor covered with unappealing dirty laminate...

A little reconfiguring of the space allowed for the installation of a bathroom. Make sure the basement is dry (no leaks), move some wires, add plasterboard for new walls, recessed lights in a new ceiling, and of course, new flooring. Voila!!!

A beautiful functional room that begs for utilization.

Yesterday was a wet dreary day. Many of you were inside. What did you see? Maybe lots of clutter....hmmm. And you were thinking, I wish I had more storage space. (Not, I should have less stuff :).)

We are excited to share the before and after photos of a fireplace wall update that has been completed in Butler.

The before pic shows a white brick fireplace with a narrow mantel. To the right of that is a storage area with open shelves on top and louvered doors below that.

It's not visible but there aren't any electrical outlets on the mantel so the owner ran the cords downs the side of the fireplace and along the floor to an outlet.

Now view the completed reno. the fireplace and storage area to the right have been given a dramatic facelift! Note the subtle artistic details. The update includes hidden electrical outlets and accent lighting. No more cords running along the floor.

Hello to all our fans out there from WS & M. Let’s set the English Pub aside for a moment and take a one question multiple-choice quiz. Question: What do you do when you purchase an appliance that is a tad taller than the last and there is a stupid cabinet in the way? So, what do you do? Answer One: First you just curse, maybe even go into a stroke causing rage. Of course, it does not solve the problem, but it does relieve some stress and if said loud enough it teaches your great niece or great nephew a new word or two. Answer Two: You get a smaller appliance but that is not really what you wanted, and every time you look at it you curse again. Answer Three: You keep your supersized metal monument, remove the cabinet that is in the way, fill that great big gaping void with all the stuff you never use, then sometime down the road you elegantly camouflage it with a home spun curtain you made with remnants, courtesy of Joann Fabrics. Answer Four: You contact Woodshop and More. Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding Ding. Right answer!

In this case, we were able to take one of the old pickled oak cabinet doors, make a valance panel replicating some of the original details, then custom wash and stain it to match. We were even able to add some golden pecan stain, so it looks as aged as the rest. Presto, problem solved. You have the appliance you wanted, you have a fine-looking affordable solution to the problem, but most importantly you have a Happy Wife! So, the next time your yahoo turns into a snafu, call who?
