Description of work:
Steve was professional, courteous, trust worthy and did excellent work. He improved the look of the exterior of our home tremendously. Inside, the drywall areas he fixed are so perfect, the seams are completely undetectable. All his work was above my expectations. “Workmanship and performance was excellent. They showed up when they said they would. They performed all the work necessary to our liking. All materials were pre-selected by us which caused some delays but that was due to the mfg. we picked out and not the contractor. Workers were polite and courteous and showed us a few changes for the better we were not aware of when we first started designing the bathroom. They were very neat and always cleaned up before they left for the day.”

“Everything went great. We found Cornerstone, owned by Steve Ericksen, on Angie's List with all positive reviews. Our first project for him was to install picture railings throughout our home (a thin railing near the ceiling from which pictures are hung). Steve's work was precise and exacting, and he was very easy to work with. We were very pleased. When it came time to build the porch, we gave Steve photographs of the porch that our friends had built in another state that we liked very much. He designed the project, working out with us exactly what we wanted and didn't want. He has a positive working relationship with the building inspector of our town, and brought him out to review the proposed project, and obtained a building permit. He built the porch with the help of 2-3 other people (another builder and some assistants), but Steve was always on the job and was always the one in touch with us. He had the building inspector come back out and obtained the certificate of occupancy. We love our porch…We were also very pleased that he stayed on budget!”

“My first impression of Steve after meeting and going over the job with him was that I felt he really knew his trade. This is why I hired him. What I got was an experienced craftsman and a perfectionist. I got a detailed contract = good, know what to expect...Steve is a very hard worker. He came with all the materials needed and a 16ft trailer that contained all his tools of the trade. I thought that was unique as I've had other workers that would forget something and have to waste time running home for it. The other things that I liked were: He would always call to let me know what time he would be coming to work or if there was a change. I especially liked that Steve is very creative and that he would offer advice on a design or to save money! He was neat and left the place clean after work. I am very pleased with the job. The house and shed look terrific and I will hire him again on future projects.”
Description of work:
Work done was all exterior which ranged from installing a new architectural shingle roof on a shed, replacing some rotted siding, and lots of trim. On the house some trim was also replaced and beefing up trim on a window and door to make it more aesthetically pleasing. Removing and replacing wood shingles on a custom bay window. From Rodger R.
“Steve Ericksen and Cornerstone Home Improvement get my highest recommendation for nearly any type of repair needed in your home. Steve came highly recommended from neighbors-I got to view in-person several repair jobs he had finished in Hamden, CT before hiring him. Everyone I consulted was both willing and proud to show off Steve's work, which included a complicated re-do of a kitchen floor plan, as well as a wheelchair ramp and installation of new energy efficient windows. In 2006 he installed 13 new, energy efficient windows in our home, raised our sinking dining room floor, stabilized a strangely installed bathroom floor dating back to 1959, and replaced rotted boards on the exterior near the eaves of our house. We have had no adverse issues with his work. They all look great! In summer 2012 Steve was the guiding force in the remodel of our kitchen, a job which involved new appliances, countertops, cabinets, floor, door, lighting and wiring. He gathered a terrific & conscientious team of electricians…to install new outlets, appliances, recessed kitchen lighting and fuse box for us. He also connected us to a gifted cabinetmaker…who crafted sturdy custom made wooden cabinets for our kitchen. They are gorgeous and we are very happy. Steve installed our kitchen backsplash glass tile over our cook top and sink, and put in a new backdoor with a cat-flap. He also lifted up our old cruddy linoleum floor and laid a new cork floor in our kitchen in record time under adverse conditions and finished it under a tight deadline. I was very grateful to him for staying late to make sure the job was done before my wife and child returned from a trip abroad. They were delighted to come home to it. The Cornerstone team turned a kitchen I hated into my favorite room in the house. “Our garage roof was leaking badly and needed to be fixed. Steve Ericksen of Cornerstone was recommended to us by…an A-1 carpenter and friend who used to do all our carpentry work, but recently retired…The job was a challenging one, but he never complained. He was always kind, cheerful, arrived exactly on time or earlier, worked in extreme heat, and even one day when he wasn't feeling well, and we had to tell him to go home. If he was going to be late because he had to go get supplies or something, he would always call to let us know what time he would be here. The quality of his work and attention to detail were amazing. He was a joy to have around and we would hire him again in a minute. In fact, we already have another project in mind that we want him to do. On his work trailer which contains every tool and type of equipment imaginable to handle any situation, it says, "Integrity at work". That about says it all. Even the building inspector was impressed.”
Description of work:
The main part of our house was built in 1940, but the part that needed work was an addition consisting of a garage with a room and deck above it which was added about 1987. The problem was that water was getting into the garage every time it rained. Steve Ericksen of Cornerstone Home Improvement agreed to take on the job not knowing exactly what he was going to run into since the problem was hidden somewhere between the garage ceiling and the deck above. In order to fix the problem, he had to remove the 12'x16' deck and the knee wall around it, the garage door, roof and ceiling, and some of the vinyl siding. Unfortunately, just about everything he removed had rotten wood underneath. When he was rebuilding the deck, he had to remove the sliding glass door to the room. When he took it out, even that fell apart. He immediately went to several different supply houses to find one that would fit because rain was predicted for the next day. The only things that could be salvaged were the garage door, the knee wall and the vinyl siding. The deck, garage roof, rafters and ceiling all had to be replaced and according to code. From Brian F.
