Functional upgrades are often overlooked in a kitchen renovation. More than just the outside of the cabinets looking good, we want to make sure your kitchen is usable and well-organized.
Here are some of the most common functional upgrades and storage solutions we install in kitchens:
1. Pull-out trash cans: If you have the available cabinet space, these are a great option to keep your trash out of sight and easily accessible. We prefer to use the bottom mount soft-close trash cans with the dovetailed maple carriage. These units function smoothly and are easier to clean and maintain than the old style side-mount glide units.
2. Pull-out shelves: In base cabinets, many items get pushed to the back and become hard to access without getting on your hands and knees and clawing through the contents of the cabinetry. Pull-out shelves bring the entire contents of the cabinet out to you with full-extension undermount glides, the same as we use with our drawer boxes. Better yet, we use an adjustable height pilaster system that the glides are mounted on, so you can maximize the usable space depending on how you wish to organize the contents of the cabinet.
3. Base cabinet organizers: There are lots of different options for base and wall cabinet organizers on the market today. Pull-out spice racks, utensil organizers, and sheet pan dividers are becoming more popular to keep things organized and more easily accessible.
Even if your cabinets aren’t in need of refacing, we can help with installing new kitchen cabinet hardware to keep your cabinetry functional and up to date. Contact us to learn more about what options are available for your kitchen.
