We’re excited to share that Hungry Architecture, in collaboration with Community Design Studio, is starting the year with a new project—an interior renovation for a fire station focused on improving flexibility, wellness, and inclusivity for its personnel.

Our work begins with the station’s original drawings, allowing us to thoughtfully reimagine key spaces. The renovation will enhance dormitories, create gender-inclusive facilities, and add a dedicated wellness space. CDS will lead early visioning, while Hungry Architecture will oversee design development and implementation.

Looking forward to sharing more of what we’re working on in 2025.

Always honored to be asked to participate in the domi community. We spoke to an MSU domicology course consisting of mostly construction management majors for a discussion on the benefits of architecture, design, construction and social work (a la .satori ) becoming a unified team.

Preparing design files to go out to a custom marble countertop fabricator. This vanity is special because we sloped the bottom of the marble built-in sink basin at the perfect angle to eliminate splash and flow seamlessly into a hidden infinity drain along the basin’s back edge. It’ll be beautiful with a wall mounted open stream trough faucet installed on the counter‘s backsplash. Flanked by cabinets made from reclaimed wood and finished with complimenting veneers. (The square opening on the bottom of the right hand cabinet is for a hidden cat litter box). Clients wanted a cat box next to the toilet for an old, obese cat who refuses to go anywhere else. We’re designing a door to replace the opening once the... how do we say this lightly.... litter box is no longer needed. Did we mention the lighted Kohler mirror with Alexa? ..... “Alexa, play relaxing music for cats.” @ Grand Rapids, Michigan

Last year, we published an article in exposing issues related to pollution. The toxic epidemic is largely caused by factory farm runoff and contamination. Land use and zoning ordinances have pushed large “farming” facilities towards the edges, meaning bordering and surrounding Lake Erie. The government has been financially helping to clean the lake. At the same time, the government also distributes SUBSTANTIAL subsidies to the very same factory farms to thrive, with no requirement for environmental impacts......... This is a screenshot from The Guardian, but this story is circulating many outlets. The article quotes, “Now the “rights of nature” movement is already spreading from the midwest to the rest of the US. Organizers behind the vote say they have heard from representatives of communities in Silicon Valley, counties around Salt Lake City in Utah, citizens of states surrounding the Chesapeake Bay and cities along the Atlantic coast in Maine. “
