Just another day of the office!

The leaves and seeds of tuliptree (Liriodendron tulipifera) are falling now (and have been for a while) and the amount of them can be quite numerous in places. The tulip-shaped flower of spring forms a “cone-shaped aggregate of winged seeds” that breaks apart to disperse the seeds when ripe, usually in late fall. They don’t sprout right away as they need the cool, moist conditions of winter to break dormancy. Then they’ll sprout in all your garden beds!
