Goldenrod Crab Spider VS Honey Bee

~ • Goldenrod Crab Spiders are able to change their body color to help blend in with the type of flower they are on. The color change can take quite some time though. (Sometimes up to a month!)

~ • One of their favorite things to eat is wasps or bees. They can even get as big as wasps, and can catch pray up to 2-3 times larger then themselves!

~ • They're hunters and don't spin webs. Instead they wait without moving, on the bloom of a flower. Because of their ability to change color, they blend in well. When an insect gets near, they grab it with their strong front legs and eat it.

~ • The female spider can spin webbing. If you see them doing this, it isn't to catch prey, but to hold her eggs! They usually fold leaves over their eggs, and spin webbing to secure them, to hide them from predators. The Mamma will then wait around guarding the eggs, until she dies.

- Also known as the "Thanksgiving Cactus", "Autumn/Fall Cactus", "Holiday Cactus"or "False Christmas Cactus", hence the time of year blooming usually takes place.

To match, there is also a "Christmas Cactus", also known as a "Winter Cactus", or by the universal name "Holiday Cactus". And an "Easter Cactus", also known as a "Spring Cactus", or "Holiday Cactus" as well.

To tell the difference between these three different Holiday Cacti, is by leaf shape and/or time of year the plant blooms. You guessed it! - For each plant, blooming times are generally around the time of year of said Holiday/Season.

But what you wouldn't have guessed is that there's a clever and fun way too ID your "Holiday Cactus", by leaf shape! And I'm going to teach you this fun identification hack!

Take a good look at the "Autumn Cacti" leaves shape. What does it look like to you? ... If you said to yourself, "it kind of looks like an Autumn leaf", you're correct, it does! Doesn't it?!🍁

Now, let's look at the "Christmas Cacti" leaves shape. What do you see? ... If you answered a Christmas tree-like shape, you'd be correct!🌲

And lastly, we'll look at the "Easter Cacti" leaves shape. Do these leaves look like Easter eggs too you?🥚
