Mountain Enterprises and KYTC District 9 were recognized today at the annual PAIKY Winter Training School with the 2025 SMOOTHEST PAVEMENT AWARD. KYTC (Kentucky Transportation Cabinet) monitors roadway rideability annually, testing over 98% of Interstates and Parkways to evaluate pavement conditions. Mountain Enterprises’ and District 9’s US23 Paving Project in Boyd County earned the highest score in the state for Rideability in 2025. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence that Mountain and District 9 have exhibited through the years. Valley and Pine Mountain Quarries will be open tomorrow, February 3rd. Valley is available for loadout at 7am. Pine is available for loadout at 8am. We are still working on Brushy and will have more details for that location tomorrow.

Important Schedule Update: Crews will be working diligently tomorrow, February 2nd to clear hazardous ice to prepare for a Tuesday re-open at all Mountain Quarry locations. Thank you all for your continued patience and understanding!

Mountain Quarries will remain closed Friday, January 30th due to extreme temperatures and site conditions. We will have an update soon regarding next week’s schedule as crews continue efforts to remove ice and manage frozen aggregate stockpiles. Safety and Quality are our top priorities. Thank you all for your patience.
