Drywall in the Details

I will apologize update front as this post isn't really drywall related or short. I want to thank a few people as this past year plus has been a difficult one for us. As some of you may know my wife and kids live near Eau Claire Wisconsin and I drive up to the twin cities every week to work and stay with my sister. I'd like to start by thanking my brother in law (who would want to remain nameless) and my sister jen and her family for their hospitality this past year. I'd like to also thank my very beautiful, kind, and patient wife Talitha (Tilly). Who as a stay at home mother, home school mother, cook, house cleaner, settler of disputes, artist, hairdresser, seamstress, party planner and awesome wife she had taking the brunt of the load this last year. I'd like to thank my four great kids for the patients (which may at times be short) in waiting for us to get a house of their own. The boys have a great list of projects for us once we do find a house of our own. Like building go carts, working on cars, building a play house and just spending time with each other (all of which are things i do). My daughter's main goal that she is patiently waiting for is a horse and farm animals like chickens, and I think goats or a cow. Not sure as animals are not one of my interests. None the less I'm sure we will have them as the rest of the family greatly enjoys them. I am also thankful for all the work we have had and great customers we've gotten to work with. I would as if you see fit please pray we could find a house with a nice size shop and some land that I could see all my families hopes and dreams come ture. Thank. This is the latest update I have of a house I worked on last year. The general contractor was very impressed with how this house turned out. He didn't need to trim along the edge of either of the wood ceilings. Even the little closet with the hot water heater looks nice.

This is a plaster patch I just finished. Someone else had tried to patch where a door use to be and failed. I removed their patch and started over. Part of why they failed resulted in you could see right where the door was. The patch itself wasn't super difficult. Where the problem came in was trying to match the texture as a number of poor repairs have been done in the past and horribly failed at even coming close to the original texture. This texture is not one I'm very experienced with but my customers are happy with the end result.

One thing that drives me insane is when drywall crews fill electrical boxes with mud and don't clean them up so the next guy can just get to work. The first picture is on a job that someone else did where I was asked to fix their work. The taper had to go out of his way to fill this box as the outlet was still in the box. However I've seen more times than I can count boxes filled with mud. I myself take pride in my work and therefore take the time to remove what mud is in the box. The second pick is what my boxes look like when I'm finished.

So this one is all finished up and ready for my customers to enjoy. Was able to finish the ceilings smooth prime and paint them, plus match the wall color to touch up the top of all the rooms. The master bedroom and bathroom got painted completely as we change color from a cream and tan to a light gray. Moving on. Thanks, hope you enjoyed watching this one as it progressed. Sorry for the delay was hoping to post Sunday, but last week wax very busy and I was wiped on Sunday. Mud work is all done.

So I've been working on a project that someone else not only did a poor job with the drywall but also destroyed the house. The project was simple remove popcorn and they chose to finish with knockdown. However besides trashing a very nice house they failed to remove all the popcorn and did a horrible job with the knockdown. Some places it was really heavy others really thin. Some places they knock it down other they never touched after spraying the texture. I'm planning on posting pictures of this project of the different stages over the next couple weeks.

This is an up date on a project I did earlier this year. I worked very closely with Todd Hopkins on this project to not only make my job easier but also make his job easier. He sent me these pictures of the house and said it was great working with me. Where the vaulted ceiling meets the wall Todd commented that the transition was seamless. Normally he would have had to put a trim piece at the top of the wall to make a nice transition, but that wasn't need here. He also made the comment that the flat wood ceiling lined up perfectly with my drywall trim. If you have a project that need extra attention to the details please contact me. The hardest part for me in making posts it trying to figured out how to take pictures that really show the quality of work I do. However a picture just can't pick out the detail that the human eye can find. So I'm asking all my wonderful customers if you would like or even comment on this post of what you think of my work.
