Crawl spaces in MN got few issues:
1. Rodents
2. Radon Gas
3. Cold/draft coming in
4. Moisture /mold issues.
Solution: membrane on the floor, to seal it from radon gas, all walls and ceiling spray foam closed cell will fix other issues. Even though spray foam is not rodent proof, but it definitely helps a lot. Our manufacturers currently are working on creating new blend of foam to make it actually rodent proof.

When you build an addition in MN. It's a must to have good insulation in floors. In this case we did R50 closed cell! It's an overkill you'd think, but when we spray minimum code R30, home owners say that floors are still cold. But when we spray R50, no one ever complained yet. That's why we always recommend doing R50 in floors.

One of the ways to spray foam to the roof deck. If Soffit vents are continious, and exhaust vent is baffeled ridgevents, we prefer to install baffles/Chutes all the way to the top, in each bay and spray foam on to the chutes. That way roof still breaths, and if you ever need to replace decking, insulation wouldn't be a problem.

Older houses, usually don't have best intake ventilation in soffits, and if they do, most likely they look like these. Either painted over several times or clogged with loose insulation that wasn't supposed to be there. There are several solutions for this issue, but bear minimum CBC replaces them and adds more if there aren't enough. Because ventilation is crucial in the attics.

Sometimes when your roof gets replaced, or major house construction, from all that vibration bathroom/kitchen vent exhaust pipes falls off, either it was barely connected or it's just getting old. Always check the attic afterwards. Cbc cares for your house.
