It is with great sadness that we share that Annette Bricker, our marketing and development director, passed away in September 2025. Annette was the backbone of our studio and led us in all things office, administration, marketing and fun for more than 12 years. Her joyful spirit and contagious laughter were balanced by a no-nonsense business approach. Annette always brought a can-do attitude and a focus on detail. She was the best at office outings — winning curling, having the heftiest throw at ax throwing, winning the green turtle for best try at go-cart racing and will be forever known for her infamous post-it notes. Annette was genuine and bold with an energy that was palatable in her care and support of us.

Her honest joy in working with our team, clients and colleagues brings accolades from many. She is remembered as a cheerful pal, warm, caring, welcoming, an all around lovely person, ‘the best,’ a joy to work with. Annette always made sure we knew we were appreciated and heard.

Annette was a bright light in a world that needs more light. We all love her as a friend and colleague, and miss her terribly. We send our thoughts to Matt, Katie and Emerson.

Cautiously watching the river at Big Spring Lodge…

Posted • Finishing up today’s flood reporting, we have mostly good news from the lower Current River. The flood crested at 22 feet at Van Buren, well below the predicted levels. Though much of the Big Spring area remains under water, the Big Spring Lodge barely got its foundation wet, and no water got inside.

Up river is a different story. The damage to the Pulltite area is extensive and will take some time to clean up. Akers and other areas are still being assessed.

With the crest past us and now leaving the park, water levels are dropping but could still take several days to approach normal levels. Doniphan folks should be prepared for the crest to arrive tomorrow. All river sections remain closed to non-motorized vessels within the park at this time.

We are excited to part of this process… stay tuned!

Posted • Civic Center Park will be transformed over the next few years, starting with a complete shift of the park’s famous Greek Amphitheater and changes to the promenade that connects the amphitheater on the park’s south side to the northern end bordering downtown.

The city, along with the Civic Center Conservancy — a nonprofit dedicated to programming activities in the park — has been developing the Civic Center Next 100 plan since 2021. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025, and at the end of October, residents will get their first look at the designs for the park updates.

“We’re so excited about this project, and really believe that it’s going to be transformative for downtown Denver and have a very large economic impact on our city, bringing more residents to downtown, bringing more visitors to downtown and finding ways to keep people in downtown longer,” says Jenna Harris, downtown parks program manager for Denver Parks & Recreation.

The Civic Center Next 100 plan, released in 2022, is based on community feedback solicited by the city and the conservancy in 2021. As the Golden Triangle neighborhood grows and the 16th Street Mall renovations are completed over the next year, Civic Center Park will connect the two and continue to serve as a central gathering place for major Denver events and festivals, according to Harris.

The public weighed in on four key areas of the park: Bannock Street, which is wedged between the park and the City and County Building; the Greek Amphitheater; the central promenade; and a feature intended for central gatherings in the park that is part of the master plan but has yet to be developed.

Designing public parks isn’t all roses and ribbon cuttings—getting to the unveiling can take years.

The process starts with listening to the community, a skill our Senior Designer, Glen Jarrett, has in spades.

The community of Aurora has a lot of great ideas for the redesign of their Red-Tailed Hawk Park—we are excited to enact a shared vision!

Are you looking to squeeze in one more summer adventure?

Here’s some inspiration…Bright Angel Trail follows a natural fault bisecting the Grand Canyon down to the Colorado River.

Our redesign of the trailhead brings this awe-inspiring experience to a wider audience by addressing universal access. Key to the design was replacing parking along the South Rim with shade, shelter, amenities, and a gathering space overlooking the iconic views.
