TONIGHT! First Friday: Old Homes, New Stories

Join us tonight from 5–8pm at Community Forklift for a celebration of historic homes and creative reuse, with live music, food, drinks, creative activities, local history, and plenty of architectural salvage to explore.

Tonight's warehouse discount: 10% off furniture!

You can also make a free upcycled candle with ReCandleDC, meet the team from Riversdale Historic Site and Museum, and contribute to Home & Belonging: Stories Through Salvaged Doors, a collaborative project from the University of Maryland Art Education Program.

Plus: free face painting, Catalyst Hot Dogs, Kona Ice, Maryland Meadworks, O'McPub Band, and all the unexpected treasures of the reuse warehouse.

Come explore local history at First Friday! We're excited to welcome the team from Riversdale Historic Site and Museum to Community Forklift this Friday. Stop by their table to learn more about Riversdale's upcoming programs and events, ask questions, and explore the stories of the people who lived and labored at this historic Prince George's County site.

And just to be clear: the event is at Community Forklift’s reuse warehouse! Riversdale's team is coming to us for the evening.

This First Friday’s theme explores historic homes and the stories that live in and around them. At Community Forklift, we're surrounded by architectural salvage with histories of its own, and First Friday is a chance to think about the connections between old homes, reused materials, and the places that make up a community.

So come explore our warehouse and see what other stories you can uncover.

Make something new from something old at this week’s First Friday! ReCandleDC is bringing their creative approach to upcycled candle-making to Community Forklift’s First Friday: Old Homes, New Stories.

ReCandleDC is a local business that transforms everyday objects into sustainable, one-of-a-kind candles. At the event, you can explore their process and make your own free small candle using an upcycled vessel from our reuse warehouse (while supplies last). Want to bring a vessel from home? You can! Just bring a container made of thick glass or ceramic, 4 ounces or less. ReCandleDC will also have a selection of larger handcrafted candles available for purchase.
