Designing a stunning container garden is easy when you follow this simple three-part recipe. Start with a "Thriller" for height, add "Fillers" to create a lush middle, and finish with "Spillers" that gracefully trail over the edges.

This layered approach creates a professional, high-end look for your porch or patio all season long. It is the quickest way to add instant curb appeal to your home with a balanced mix of color and texture.

If it blooms in spring, like Lilacs or Forsythia, wait until after it flowers to prune. Cutting these shrubs too early means removing this year’s flower buds before they have a chance to open.
A well-timed trim keeps your plants healthy and ensures a spectacular show. Waiting until the blooms fade is the best way to maintain the natural shape and vigor of your spring favorites.
What is the first thing you are excited to see bloom this year? Let us know in the comments, or visit the garden center to pick up the right tools for the season ahead.

When the first bees and butterflies emerge in spring, they need immediate food sources. By planting early bloomers, you provide vital nectar during a time when forage is scarce, supporting your local ecosystem when it needs it most.

What makes this container recipe named Night Sky work?
✔️ All three plants are strong growers, so one doesn't drown out another.
✔️ There's a good mix of thrillers, fillers and spillers - meaning taller, mid-level and trailing plants.
✔️ The cool pink and purple tones complement one another beautifully.
✔️ It's texturally complementary. Large, rough textured coleus leaves contrast with the smooth, flat petunia petals, balanced by the lacy textured verbena flowers.
✔️All three plants grow well in full sun and with average moisture.

To make the Night Sky recipe in a 14-16" container, you'll need:
Qty 1 - ColorBlaze® Newly Noir™ coleus
Qty 2 - Supertunia Vista® Jazzberry® petunias
Qty 2 - Superbena® Pink Cashmere™ verbena

🆕New this year! The Bouquet Perfect™ series of primroses will be among the first early blooming perennials you'll find blooming at Sunnypoint and in your garden this spring. They thrive in the coolest parts of the season, as they start to form their first buds not long after the snow melts.

👈Swipe left to see the first four colors in the series, and save room in your garden for two more colors coming in 2027.

1/ Bouquet Perfect™ 'Violetta' - Dark violet-blue flowers
2/Bouquet Perfect™ 'Watercolour Blue' - Large, sky blue flowers
3/Bouquet Perfect™ 'Spearmint' - White flowers with a slight mint green hue
4/Bouquet Perfect™ 'Mandarin' - Large, golden yellow flowers

Bouquet Perfect primroses are shade-loving perennials that thrive in moist soil in partial to full shade. Though they are cold hardy in zones 4-8, they appreciate some protective insulation in the form of snow or shredded leaves in late winter so they are not lost to late hard freezes as they are beginning to form their flower buds.
