Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! If you guessed dinner plate hibiscus, hardy hibiscus, or Summerific hibiscus you are correct!!!

I purchased these last year with minimal flowers so I’m super excited for all the blooms this year.

On the Left is the Summerific Cherry Chocó Latte and on the right is Summerific Evening Rose. It might be hard to tell left or right from the pictures so I labeled them as well. These are last years blooms when I planted them!

I definitely will be posting when these bad boys start blooming! 🤗

Tip of the day!🌱

You need to fertilize your potted containers more often than your in ground plants. Potted containers will leach out nutrients by watering. So the nutrients need to be replaced more often.
The best way to do this is with a liquid fertilizer. Granular fertilizers need to breakdown and will not get to the plant nutrition right away.

Tomato tip!!

Pruning guidelines⬇️⬇️

Indeterminate tomatoes-prune as necessary for space an shape. They are indeterminate so they will continue to grow and produce fruit.
Determinate tomatoes- limit pruning as the plant has more of a limited lifecycle and production window. Provide a sturdy cage or trellis and let them do their thing.

Exceptions and Variables-

It’s moist and humid- might want to prune to eliminate moisture sensitive conditions like powdery mildew. Pruning would create air circulation and allow plant to stay more dry.

It’s hot and dry- you might NOT want to prune that much at all. All the leaf cover will protect the fruit from scald and keep the roots and plant cooler so it can continue to fruit in warm weather.

Pruning for production? This just isn’t for me. Why? I grow a lot of tomatoes for canning and everyday use. Like over forty plants usually.
Because of the sheer quantities of plants, pruning for pruduction just isn’t worth my time and energy.
However it may work great for your particular situation! Don’t be afraid to try different techniques and see what’s the best one for you.

Last but not least. Prune for disease resistance. A good number of tomato viruses are soil bound so pruning the lower leaves and suckers off the bottom of the tomato plants to keep them from touching the soil is always a great idea. It will help keep your plant healthier longer!

Happy Growing 🌱🍅
