To help prevent critters from eating through your drip lines to get to the water, try putting a bowl/pan of water out for them. I put one under my bird bath that catches the runoff from watering from my drip system.

If you have plants that are dying at this time of year, check the water. If the emitter hasn't been changed since planting it, it may have outgrown the amount it needs.
