🌧️ rain rain go away 🌧️

It feels like we’ve had rain for 7 days and 7 nights straight, and while our plants usually love a good soaking, this much rain can start causing problems in landscapes, flower beds, containers, and gardens.

Here’s what to keep an eye on as things finally begin to dry out:

🍂 Yellowing leaves
🍂 Leaves dropping unexpectedly
🍂 Brown, black, or spotted foliage
🍂 Wilting plants even though the soil is wet
🍂 Soft, mushy stems near the soil line
🍂 Slow growth or plants that just don’t seem happy

All of these can be signs of stress from excessive moisture or the beginning stages of fungal issues.

Once the rain moves out and we get a few dry days, now is a great time to:

✅ Remove dead or damaged foliage

✅ Clean up fallen leaves and debris around plants

✅ Allow containers and beds to dry before watering again

✅ Apply a fungicide if you’re seeing signs of leaf spot, mildew, or other fungal problems

✅ Consider a systemic fungicide drench around susceptible plants to help protect roots from diseases that thrive in overly wet soil

Another thing many folks don’t realize is that all this rain can wash nutrients right out of the soil. Once things dry out, a light application of fertilizer can help plants recover and green back up.

The good news? Most established plants are tougher than they look and should bounce back once we get some sunshine and warmer, drier conditions.

Stay dry, y’all! ☔🌿
