Everything is growing crazy out here! Peas are in full effect and blackberries are starting to flower. Tomatoes and peppers have been transplanted out and potatoes are showing great aboveground growth. Super excited for summer this year!

In certain regions of China, farmers employ a traditional technique to enhance the sweetness of watermelons by placing stones on top of the fruits. During daylight hours, these stones absorb heat from the sun, shielding the watermelons from direct exposure to intense sunlight. As night falls, the stones gradually release the stored heat, creating a thermal contrast that stimulates the ripening process, resulting in sweeter and juicier watermelons. Additionally, the weight of the stones exerts slight pressure on the fruits, which is believed to further promote sweetness. This method reflects a profound understanding of natural processes and their influence on crop development.

Furthermore, placing stones on watermelons serves as a deterrent against pests such as birds, wild chickens, and rabbits, thereby protecting the fruits from potential damage.

Put in the work over the next 3 days. Open sow like crazy and let the days of rain following take care of the rest. 🌿❤️

We always prefer no dig methods and try to limit soil disturbance as much as possible but sometimes a shovel is involved! Also, potatoes are looking great!

I'll tilth the added turf and top with fresh compost before planting 😊

Since these plots are starting without a w**d membrane, heavy planting and mulching is in the future for them.
