It's Hot Potato Crawl time! In cooperation with the North Carolina Potato Festival, businesses have come up with some creative ways to celebrate one of our local crops -- The POTATO! It's a small crop of participants this year, but they have some spudworthy offerings!

Kitchen Kuriosities carries a great dehydrated starter, bannetons and other sour dough baking supplies. And we love Zero Waste Chef!

My starter Eleanor had been sluggish for over a week! In her twelve years, she has never been this difficult (maybe she has entered a moody pre-adolescent phase?).

So I ground up a small amount of rye berries yesterday and supplemented her food with those (about 25 percent of her meal). I've also been keeping her on top of the warming zone of the stove at the very lowest setting, sitting on a cloth pot holder. Today she is back to her old self! Hurray! What should I bake first?
