Oh, I am so giddy with happiness for Craig and Vanessa. They came to BA last night to do a little bit of paranormal investigating, but Craig also had something else on his mind. In the library, he asked Vanessa to marry him. Join me in wishing them a huge congratulations! We are so happy for you both. Glad BA could be a part of your big moment๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿฉท

I am reaching out to the community to see who will show up this Saturday to volunteer with the fall clean-up day. I will open the gates at 9:00 AM and would like to wrap it up by 1:00 PM.

We need help outdoors as well as inside BA. I will bring trash bags, and I do have a few brooms. If you are planning to work outside, I do not have many yard tools.

Please note that there is no running water on the property.

Who is in? Pretty please?!? Let me know in the comments =)

Notice:
Due to rain and much cooler weather, I have postponed the spring cleaning that was to be held tomorrow, Saturday, April 20. I will post a new date in a week or two.

Also, if anyone has any lamps hanging around that you no longer need, let me know. With all the events weโ€™ve sponsored, we are somehow missing a few lamps and BA needs lights in a few rooms ๐Ÿ™‚. We are also in need of photo albums (where the plastic sheet peels away from the page) and photo frames.

If you are local, I can pick up any donated items or I can meet you at BA.

Thanks!

Hello friends! Iโ€™m back! Back on October 19th I took a fall off my truck step rail, broke my ankle in 4 places and completely dislocated it. This resulted in a gnarly surgery which put me out of commission until now. I am not 100%, but I can walk for which I am very thankful!

I visited Bethlehem Academy on Saturday for the first time in over 4 months. She missed my TLC as she is a bit dusty and dirty. The issue is that I am not quite able to run up and down the stairs to do what needs to be done. Sooooo, I am looking for a few volunteers to help me inside and out.

April 20th, from 10:00 AM until whenever, I would appreciate any and all the help I can get. The weather should be warmer by then. The house is much too cold right now. Also, if anyone wants to help outside, I am not going to pass up the extra helping hands.

If you can help on April 20th, please shoot me a text at 803-556-9441.

I am looking forward to seeing you all again.

Much love,
Cindy

This week's is an artifact of Loretto's Bethlehem Academy in Hardin County, KY. Bethlehem's long history includes the period of the American Civil War. According to the book "Nostalgia" by Edith Ray, the Sisters and students at Bethlehem faced hardships from wartime shortages of food and other supplies. When the silver dollar reached a practically worthless value, Mother Bertha Bowles had her silvers dollars melted down by silversmith J. Werne, who needed to pay his daughter's academy tuition. Werne made a dozen silver napkin rings, which he engraved with the name "Bethlehem," and a dozen pieces of silverware, which he engraved "Sisters of Loretto." Do you think this napkin ring is one of the ones made by Werne during the Civil War?
