The Capitol Morning report wrote this about me:
Bird-Shaped Shrub
Our readers continue to sing the praises (via email) of the work of the
mystery topiary artiste who shears designs into the shrubbery around the
Legislative Office Building. (We featured the designs yesterday.) The
groundskeeper (who Department of General Services officials will not
name) appears to have quite a following. Writes Dorothy Korber, a
consultant with the Senate Office of Oversight and Outcomes, who works
in the LOB: "There's a row of similar-vintage state buildings here on N
Street - some have only ivy, others just dirt. Our gorgeous landscaping
is definitely something that sets the Legislative Office Building apart
and makes me proud to be a LOBster." Cathy Cruz, also of the Senate
Office of O and O, writes that she and others in the building have
noticed an improvement in the looks of the shrubbery that have "taken
shape, and very creative shape I must say," Cruz writes. "I take my hat
off to the topiary artiste's work," Cruz adds. And Terry Myrrdin, chief
for facilities oversight at the Secretary of State's Office, wants to
let readers know that the mystery groundskeeper may have left other
markings too. "Look closely at the 'sand' in the tree areas between the
sidewalk and the street up 11th Street (between N and P streets) and you
will also notice signs made by a rake," she writes. Myrrdin adds that
the DGS groundskeeper is an "artist in landscape."
