Stumped?!

After tree removal this client wasn't sure what to do with the stumps remaining in the yard that were a pain to mow around. Inspired by some volunteer daffodils they asked for a pollinator garden.

Stumps are often possible to work around and can fit beautifully within a pollinator garden. The stumps become their own feature inviting fungi and mosses to grow while providing a landing place for birds. They also make a great surface for a water source, bird feeder, or wildlife camera.

We created a layered garden with shrubs and perennials to provide color throughout the growing season and block the stumps from view, creating a secluded spot for pollinators and wildlife looking for a bit of rest.

A new garden does not always mean removal, sometimes working with what you've got can create something beautiful.

Check out all this variation in bloom color on our Tradescantia virginiana quarts! Virginia Spiderwort prefers part to full shade in medium to moist soils. It creates clumps, but can form offshoots and spread by seed. Clay and deer tolerant!

Early summer blooms in Cianna’s garden! Scutellaria incana, Baptisia tinctoria, and Coreopsis verticillata. These plants are all thriving in heavy clay and deer pressure. We have Scutellaria in plugs and Baptisia in quarts! We’re here till 5 today.
