Clean a Hydrant, Win a Prize!
Ellington doesn't have any ordinances pertaining to who is responsible for cleaning hydrants so while the Fire Department does what it can, we need your help! Please remember that a hydrant is a community resource so even if the hydrant isn't on your property, everyone around it benefits from its presence. This is a great way for neighbors to help neighbors.

If you clean around a hydrant, post a picture on this thread. We'll randomly give away a $75 gift card to Amazon along with a ride to school on a fire truck for a random winner (must live in EVFD's response district). The drawing will be held on Saturday, 2/28 and we'll message the winner through FB.

🚨Hit and Run Investigation – Town of Tolland🚨

Troopers are investigating a hit-and-run in the area of 175 Mile Hill RD. A vehicle traveling northbound struck a pedestrian who was walking southbound in the northbound shoulder with his snowblower and then fled the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to Hartford Hospital with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white sedan (unknown make/model) that likely has front passenger-side bumper damage near the wheel well, possibly missing a portion of the bumper. It is believed the vehicle continued north toward Vernon.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Deprey #1139 at Troop C – Tolland County at 860-896-3200.
