At Forrest Keeling Nursery, we know that healthy ecosystems depend on healthy pollinator populations. That's why we're committed to growing native trees, shrubs, perennials, and grasses that provide the food, shelter, and habitat pollinators need to thrive.

From spring-blooming redbuds and serviceberries to summer favorites like buttonbush and coneflowers, the plants we grow support bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, moths, and countless other beneficial species throughout the growing season.

🌿 𝐘𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞. 🌿

🔍 Children explored.

⏰ Parents slowed down.

📖 Grandpa Wayne shared stories.

🐑 Goats and sheep made new friends.

Butterflies, birds, native plants, wiggly worms, and a little dirt helped create memories that will last long after the day is over.

One of the best parts wasn't any single activity—it was watching generations come together around nature.🦋🐞🪱🌿☀️

Kids made fuzzy caterpillars and bee masks, collected nature beads, listened to Grandpa Wayne's stories, met the goats, enjoyed Don Julio's delicious food, and took home native plants that will grow into habitat for pollinators, birds, and future family memories.

Those plants may someday become shade trees, butterfly gardens, hummingbird magnets, or maybe, the beginning of a backyard food forest.

🌿🐐 Grandpa Wayne’s Tales & Trails Adventure Day is underway! 🦋🌳

Kids are exploring nature, meeting animals, planting for pollinators, hearing stories from Grandpa Wayne, and making memories all across the nursery.

And when adventure works up an appetite, Don Julio’s fabulous food truck is serving up delicious tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and more! 🌮😋

The Catalpa trees are BLOOMING and they are absolutely stunning!

Native to the midwest and southeastern United States, Catalpa trees are loved for their large heart-shaped leaves and showy clusters of fragrant white flowers that appear in late spring and early summer. Right now they’re putting on an incredible display — and you can find them for sale at Forrest Keeling Nursery Garden Store!

Not only are Catalpas beautiful shade trees, they also provide valuable benefits to our ecosystem:
🐝 Their blooms attract pollinators like bees and butterflies
🦋 They serve as a host tree for the Catalpa Sphinx moth
🐦 Birds and wildlife benefit from the shelter their broad canopy provides
🌳 Fast-growing and hardy, they make an excellent landscape tree for larger spaces
