SUCKERING PALM – HEIGHT TO TEN FEET

This suckering Asian palm gets to a height of eight to ten feet. Leaflet tips are jagged and silver underneath. It also have very fragrant blossoms. It is a slow growing palm. Cold hardiness is about 18 degrees F.

LOVE SUN – FAIRLY COLD HARDY

This interesting drought tolerant plant is native to Mexico and likes full hot sun. In gardens, I’ve seen a few older plants with a few feet of trunk. But, this species can actually get a trunk that is six or eight feet tall in fifty or a hundred years. Cold tolerance is into the teens F.

This South African cycad is one of the most sought after cycads in the world. It is a smaller cycad that, after many decades, can get two feet of trunk and an overall height of five to six feet counting the leaves. Cold tolerance is about 22 degrees F. Below this will need cold protection.

UPRIGHT LEAVES WITH TOMENTUM ON LEAF STEMS – CUPPED LEAFLETS

This species is endemic to northern Tanzanian and southern Kenya, where there are two isolated populations. This is a medium sized plant. Leaves can reach a length of about two meters. Cold tolerance is estimated at 25 degrees.
