When getting a paving estimate insist that the contractor provides you with a DETAILED proposal. We have been shown estimates from some competitors that are hard to believe. The best are hand written saying only "apply 1/2 blacktop" and the price. The worst are scribbling on the back of a business card! Remember if it is not in writing the contractor can basically do whatever they want. You will have no recourse. Our estimates are computer generated , handed to you on the spot, and extremely detailed spelling out exactly what we will do. Including...and most importantly the amount of materials we will place. Why is that so important? It requires a certain amount of tonnage per inch of material placed. Having the tonnage required insures you are getting the stated thickness of material. Remember the biggest scam is installing thin asphalt, referred to as "skimming". The asphalt is the single biggest expense for the contractor. If they cut it back they save a bunch of money. Hopefully you get a real cheap price for that kind of work but it won't last long. There is no way of determining how thick the asphalt is by looking at the surface. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!! Whether you go with us or with brand X you will be spending a lot of money. The best defense is to take a few minutes and educate yourself. Our website has videos explaining the paving process.
