How would you design a space that is about the invisible sense of smell?
More specifically, a space that is about the sense of smell projected within the space around yourself (aka “Scent Space”)?
That was the challenging question and intent for creating Scent Space, Fragrances’ new flagship store.
At the same time, the place had to reflect the unmistakable characteristics of the brand itself.
The design approach was to utilize our other senses in creating a tangible space that allows for discovery of the olfactive brand.
In similar fashion to digitally native brands’ website, upon entry one is greeted with a message guiding them on paths taken to explore their collection of fragrances.
One can discover by individual scent (along the “black key” wall), by preferred projection of scent (along central floating displays) , or by all scent collections (along the “black box”wall).
Much like an art exhibit through visuall communication, wayfinding, and sampeling of products, one can linger through the store to learn about and experience Scent Space.
