📣Big announcement: WE ARE MOVING!!

🫶🏼It has been a rollercoaster of emotions to finally make this decision, however with each day comes more clarity and excitement for our next chapter.

🌴We are grateful to each person we have connected with here in Englewood, FL. This small coastal town is not only where we have built Garden of the Arts these last 3 years, but also the town I grew up in.

🏡Our next adventure finds us in Tryon, NC. We have purchased a multi-generational home with my parents.

❤️With this move, we will be blessed to be closer to some of Matt's family too. We also look forward to hiking & foraging in forests, exploring new towns & cities, and of course, to gardening in a new climate. Rest assured, we already have a long plant list and big dreams for our new property!

🌞Our next post will include more photos of our home and gardens, which are currently FOR SALE BY OWNER.

🗓️The November Food Forest Garden Tour is cancelled.

💪We have some cleaning up to do and want to give more time for recovery after Hurricane Milton turned everything brown.

🌀Post-Hurricane Milton Garden Report (part 3/3):

📅Hurricane Milton made landfall in the evening of October 9th, 2024. These pictures were captured this morning, October 29th, now 20 days post-hurricane.

🍃All of the green leaves, buds, and fruits in these pictures are entirely new growth since the hurricane. In the days after the storm, these plants had either entirely dropped their leaves or the leaves had turned brown.

💜As mentioned in part 1/3 of this 'Hurricane Report' series, when the mulberry tree loses it's leaves, we can expect a heavy fruiting to follow. We are already seeing the mulberry tree loaded with young fruits as our anticipation of enjoying many mulberries grows. The fruits currently look like white and green caterpillars. This winter, these fruits will be a dark purple and at least 3-4 times as big.

✨Edible plants included in this order:
Mulberry
Peanut Butter Fruit
Bananas
Cacao
Beautyberry
Clove Basil
Barbados Cherry
Cassava/Yuca
Strawberry Tree (Muntingia)

🌳As hurricanes and extreme weather conditions strike Florida, we look to plants like these that are resilient.

👨‍🌾Are you seeing new growth in your gardens? What other plants are proving themselves to be resilient?
