RISE AND SHINE, WILDFLOWERS! It's time for Throwback Thursday!
As summer has arrived, I've been reflecting on the differences between my childhood summers in the 80s and those of kids in the 2020s. We would wake up early, enjoy a nutritious breakfast, and then spend the day outdoors, often not returning home until dinner time and then venturing out again until the street lights came on. We were a generation that rarely used phones, had limited control over television programming, and relied on our imagination for entertainment. We would quench our thirst with water from garden hoses and grab a simple lunch at a neighbor's house.
In contrast, many children today are frequently glued to their devices, consume processed foods, and view outdoor play as a chore. The concept of imaginative play and neighborhood camaraderie, where children would ride bikes or play kickball together, seems to be disappearing.
Today, I want to be reminded of those days when we were all kids. No matter the decade, we all share one thing in common from our childhoods ..we had to get from point A to point Z, (and everywhere in-between).The question today is...how did YOU get there?
