We were lucky to have John Lawless as a friend and colleague. He was a thoughtful and gifted architect and mentor who created valued relationships and connections with everyone he knew. His passing in August from complications due to Parkinson’s disease is felt deeply by everyone who had the honor of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers or other types of support, his family is encouraging making a direct donation or participating in the upcoming fundraiser – Sole Support for Parkinson’s – a walk at Alton Baker Park in Eugene on September 29th in loving memory of John.

TBG has moved! After 28 years in our much-loved space on Broadway, we moved to the McCracken Building at 375 West 4th Avenue. We have right-sized our office space to align with our workplace flexibility and use of virtual platforms for business operations. We are now settled into our new office in a shared suite with colleagues. We look forward to getting to know the Whiteaker neighborhood a bit more, with all of its tasting rooms, restaurants, and live music. Come by and see us!

Our move to a new location is another of many landmark events in the evolution of TBG. In 1949, Thomas Balzhiser founded the firm. Since then, we have maintained the foundational core values of building lasting relationships in our community and working together to contribute beautiful, functional, and enduring projects in the communities we work in throughout the Pacific Northwest. Our workplace flexibility allows for a better work-life balance, so at work, we are more productive, engaged, creative, and client responsive.
