A little bit about who we are...

Dan started working in construction as a teen with his Uncle, the work was hard and the pay was low, but Dan soon discovered he loved construction. He went on to take the building trades class at Eureka high in the 80’s, and after graduation went to work immediately for a local construction company. At 18 he started volunteering for his local fire department and got bit by the fire bug, he was hired as a full time employee by that department when he was 20 and went on to have a long career in the fire service. His schedule in the fire service allowed him to work in both of his passions, so throughout his career as a fireman, he also worked in construction. His years as a fire captain translate well to project managing large construction jobs, and he and Jamie make an amazing team. After retiring from 24 years in the fire service, he went on to work as GM of a restoration company, and most recently worked as a construction project manager, he’s a father of 7 children (3 of whom are grown with children of their own), and grandpa to 6, enjoys his family, church community and loves what he does!

Jamie and his wife both grew up locally and are now raising their 3 children here in Humboldt County. Jamie grew up working alongside his dad in construction from the time he was big enough to lift a hammer and clean up the job site. At 16 he started working for a local flooring company and became a flooring installer for them, he did that for about 8 years, during which time he continued doing some construction on the weekends. He has spent the last several years working as a lead carpenter and really enjoys what he does. He particularly enjoys the finish end of carpentry, and has a great eye for detail. Jamie enjoys spending time outdoors with his young family, his church community, and building a multi- generational business with his dad.

JDS CONSTRUCTION stands for Jamie, Dan and Salinger, with the opportunity for future growth when Dan’s youngest son (and Jamie’s youngest brother) Steven is old enough to join the partnership.
