I reckon there aren't too many companies in Pennsylvania climbing with a sloth today. Big thanks again to the National Aviary for allowing us to care for the habitat of all these amazing animals.

Mother Nature sure can throw some nasty curveballs at us. The storms on April 29th were extraordinary and the damage even more so. Damage was widespread and in some cases devastating. These pictures are from Alison Park, Fox Chapel, and Sewickley.

The first 4 pictures are of a long time customer's property in Alison Park. We tallied 59 total loss trees on the property.

The 5th picture shows the importance of cable installation in trees with weak branch unions and/or codominant stems. A cable was installed in this oak tree several years ago to help prevent failure. Rarely will the branch union fail after installation. If a failure still does occur as pictured, the cable will help reduce secondary damage. Without a cable in this tree, property damage would have been much greater.

Tree crews and power companies are working hard to clean debris and ensure the safety of residents.

Call us at (724)789-7896 or email [email protected] for any of your tree care needs. Stay safe, friends.

Often times we tell people that we are in the business of saving trees, not cutting them down. Sometimes removal is necessary. This Fiddle Leaf Ficus (Ficus lyrata) at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens had outgrown its space. It was providing too much shade and competition for future plantings. Also, the root system had begun to destroy the brick wall of the bed in which it was planted. Sometimes it's just time to say goodbye. We are so honored to care for the trees at Phipps and love working with their amazing crew. Go check out our work and give a big thank you to the Phipps staff when you see them.

Let there be light. After installing access lines on the rooftop yesterday, we were able to prune the at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens today. The trees are happy after some thinning and clearing from the glass ceiling. Thinning is important for tree health. If properly done, thinning encourages growth with optimal sunlight and allows air flow. It can also reveal the character of a tree by exposing the trunk and branch structure of a specimen. The trees at Phipps have plenty of character and we are honored to care for them so that all of us can enjoy their beauty. Go check out our work.

Do you love the outdoors? Not afraid to get your hands dirty? Do you like to challenge yourself both physically and mentally? A career as a professional Arborist might be for you. Our ISA Certified Arborists and tree experts provide on-the-job training in all aspects of Arboriculture. Whether you are a seasoned climber or have no experience, we are looking for men and women who are eager to learn, have a strong work ethic, and willing to expand their knowledge of the tree care industry.

We are not a "typical" tree service. Just some of the unique properties whose trees we care for include Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, The National Aviary of Pittsburgh, and Katz Plaza in the Cultural District. This gives us the opportunity to work with rare trees and plants. One day we may be removing a large Palm tree at Phipps, the next, we may be installing vines for "Wookie", The Aviary's Three-Toed Sloth while exotic birds fly around. These are truly unique experiences that no other company can claim.
