🏠 Built in 1882 by Dr. Abraham Owen, the Owen Block stands tall with its stunning French Second Empire style. Located centrally between Haynie’s Corner Arts District, Main Street, and the riverfront, it's a gem of Evansville's history.

☝️ In 2015, the Owen Block faced the threat of demolition due to disrepair. But thanks to a grassroots social media campaign and collaboration with Indiana Landmarks and the city, this historic landmark was saved! Architectural Renovators took on the challenge, transforming it into 15 modern one-bedroom apartments.

🏚️ From 2012 to 2016, the Peters-Margedant House, a one-of-a-kind piece of Evansville's architectural history, was left vacant. Thanks to the support and funding of several entities including Indiana Landmarks, the decision was made to move the home from its original location onto the University of Evansville campus.

The move ensured the house remained standing and cared for, and allowed it to become a museum open to visitors who wanted to see its unique style and details up close!
·
🏗️ Architectural Renovators was privileged to be part of a group of historic architecture experts and advocates that helped restore the home to its former glory and transport it to its new location!

❓ Did you know? Today, this uniquely angled building is the home of AR Lofts and Second Language. But in 1894, it was constructed for the Marsh-Scantlin Bakery.

🍪 It operated as a regional National Biscuit Company bakery, known today as Nabisco, before housing Geiger Moving and Storage for nearly a century, as many Evansville residents will remember!
