The company known today for detecting burglars had its roots in pest control of a different sort in the late 1950s. Robert Baxter, of Anderson, Indiana, installed microphones within the walls of a building to listen for termites and pinpoint their location. On June 16, 1960, he incorporated โ€œSonitrolโ€, from the words sound and control, to manufacture and market his innovations. Law Enforcement Leg

In 1963, Baxter met Al Cronk, a local police officer who owned an alarm company. Cronk was frustrated with systems that seemed to let the perpetrators get away. He hired Baxter, the inventor, to develop new ideas for the alarm company. Baxter responded with the audio sensor, and Sonitrol was born as a security company. Today, Sonitrol provides tailored local business and home security service in approximately 180 cities throughout the United States and Canada. Now the third largest commercial security company in North America, Sonitrol is the clear leader in verified electronic security

๐Ÿšจ Things We Wish Businesses Knew About Security

Your biggest security risk might not be a stranger.

Former employees, shared alarm codes, forgotten credentials, and outdated access permissions can create vulnerabilities many businesses don't realize exist.

Regularly reviewing who has access to your facility can help reduce risk and strengthen your overall security.

Granted's House of Hope Celebrates Grand Opening ๐Ÿ’œ

Today, members of the SONITROL of Evansville team had the privilege of attending the grand opening of Granted's House of Hope, a significant milestone for the organization and the families it serves. For the first time in its history, Granted now has a dedicated space where children and families can gather, participate in programs, access resources, attend support groups, and receive support throughout their journey in one welcoming environment. The House of Hope was created to bring many of Granted's services together under one roof, making it easier for families to connect with the organization and one another. In addition to providing a central location for programming and events, the House of Hope offers a safe and supportive environment where families can build relationships and find encouragement during difficult times. More than just a new facility, the House of Hope represents Granted's ongoing commitment to providing hope, support, and a sense of community for the families it serves.

Since 1985, Granted has been fulfilling the greatest wishes of children facing terminal or life-threatening conditions throughout Southern Indiana, Western Kentucky, and Southeast Illinois. These wishes create meaningful experiences and lasting memories for children and their families while providing hope during some of life's most difficult challenges. Whether itโ€™s a child who was never supposed to walk taking their first step or a child with an organic brain disorder speaking their first understandable word, wishes create a profound impact. In addition to granting wishes, Granted continues to support families through year-round programming, special events, support groups, and resource referrals. This ongoing commitment is one of the many reasons Granted has become such an important resource throughout the region.

SONITROL of Evansville is proud to support organizations like Granted that make such a meaningful impact on our community. To help support the House of Hope, SONITROL donated, installed, and continues to monitor a comprehensive security system that includes video surveillance, access control, and fire monitoring. These systems help protect the children, families, staff, volunteers, and facilities while providing peace of mind for everyone who uses the space. By providing security solutions for the House of Hope, we hope to help create a safe and welcoming environment where children and families can focus on healing, connecting, and making lasting memories. Supporting Granted's mission goes beyond protecting a building; it's about helping protect a place that will provide hope, support, and a sense of community for local families for years to come. We are honored to play a small role in helping make the House of Hope a reality.

SONITROL is grateful for the opportunity to partner with organizations like Granted that make such a meaningful difference in the lives of local families. As the House of Hope continues to grow, it will become a place where children and families can come together for celebrations, support groups, counseling, tutoring, and other community-building activities. The facility represents more than just a building; it represents hope, connection, and a strong support system for families navigating difficult circumstances. We are proud to help support a space that will serve our community for years to come and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on countless families. Those who were unable to attend the grand opening will have another opportunity to tour the House of Hope during an open house on Saturday, June 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Visitors will have the chance to learn more about Granted's mission and see firsthand how this new space will support children and families throughout the region.

Congratulations to Granted on the opening of the House of Hope and the incredible impact this new facility will have on many. We are honored to support their mission and look forward to seeing the positive difference this space will make for years to come!

โ˜€๏ธ As solar energy systems become more common on commercial properties, they are also becoming increasingly attractive targets for theft and vandalism.

While entire solar panels are sometimes stolen, criminals more often target valuable components such as copper wiring, inverters, batteries, and other electrical equipment connected to the system.

In one Indiana incident, thieves stole approximately 90 solar panels from a solar facility after breaching the property's perimeter, resulting in an estimated loss of $20,000.

Schools, churches, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, apartment complexes, and other commercial properties with solar installations can all be vulnerable when suspicious activity goes undetected.

That's why early detection matters. A layered security approach that combines intrusion detection, video verification, and monitored response can help deter criminal activity, reduce losses, and minimize costly downtime.

Protecting your investment starts before a loss occurs.
