Some new material posts coming again from Jim Lang Residential Design ....I have been getting lots of interest in actual interior design. this group shows a combination of structure and interior design. I love this first selection because it juxtapositions my love of history with contemporary living

Houses of history Chapter 5... oops... it is a caboose, not a house ...:) Talk about your interesting restorations. This last caboose on The Monon trail was so trashed, it required an education.... which I got from the wonderful train museum at The Evansville Museum. This was turned into a real estate office. I took pictures from the perfectly restored one here in Evansville. If you have not taken the time to see these train cars in Evansville , you are missing out.

New plan elevation for a new Country French residence on Indy's Northside. Elevation is asymmetrically balanced around the front middle section. This 5800 square foot home will have a two storied staircase with wrap around upstairs library are, main floor master and 5 bedrooms. You are looking at the final AutoCad for construction here.

Remember this? Empty for 8 months, and situated on one of Evansville's most prized streets...
Previous owner had poured a 22 x 48 parking lot at the front door.

We had McCaslin Concrete come and tear it up, and replace it with a winding stamped and painted sidewalk, steps, and stoop to mimic the limestone quoining around the Tudor door, and an informal English cottage touch with the landscaping

Authentic Country French beauty, nestled in Indy's ultimate area, Williams Creek. the original elevation was drawn by Gary Nance, but the builder and I detailed out the exterior materials and detailing, as well as the courtyard.

Note the paneled and tucked 8' high mahogany door, quoined in limestone.

Through the majestic foyer with intricate staircase, you follow through with a barreled ceiling vestibule into the great room. The devil is in the detailing in this fine home.

Bring the inside outside, or the outside in. :) This design including hardscape, and landscape ( brought in nursery, just gave them the look. )This is a must to have an elegant entry point to any fine home! the offset sections of slate allow for careful transition between hardscape and landscape.

The Devil is in the Detail; Chapter One

Even a few architectural details can make or break your home; A Chippendale railing hugs this outside deck, giving it dimension, depth, and style.

The uplighted six foot masonry wall around this historic Lincolnshire home is actually more beautiful at night.

The Williamsburg cooking fireplace is cozy with room to entertain, or recover from a sizable meal.

The second empire columned porch is adorned with intricate Chippendale railing.

Homes of history, chapter two;
On one if Indianapolis' great Northside streets in Meridian Kessler... when we found this home, it was virtually untouched since it's 1928 construction. The kitchen, which was 12 x 10 had a lean to attached for the milkman to deliver for the ice box.

After tapping on suspicious walls, I found a back staircase with the silver closet that had been closed up. The third floor was for servants quarters. We turned two large bedrooms into a sleek new master suite, redid the third floor into fourth and fifth bedrooms, both with private baths, and added a large kitchen with hearth area. On the outside, we completely restored the exterior.... bringing this Neo-classic Colonial home to fresh new life.
